ichard Porter has lived his entire life in Kansas City area and started playing the trumpet in the 7th grade at Northgate Jr. High. He graduated from William Jewell College with a music degree in 1988. Shortly after graduation he joined the Northstar Community Band were he met Sherree. When the Overtones first played Christmas carols at Walmart Richard joined in. He then became a full time member of the band when several members of the band encouraged the formation of a big band. Richard has played in a variety of theater in the park musicals, church ensembles/solos, and other community groups over the years He currently works as a delivery driver for Steve's Precision Dental Lab in Mission, Ks.
