im Leuschke was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Graduating from the University of Missouri - Columbia, he received his BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in both Accounting and Management. He has lived in or around the Kansas City area for more than 40 years. Currently living in Kearney, MO with his wife, Susan.

Before retiring in January 2017, Jim was the Director of Accounting for Forrest T. Jones & Company, Inc. His business credentials and accomplishments in multiple aspects of music & theatre bring a new dimension to the term "creative accountant". Jim￿s ambidextrous brained abilities allow him to bring a rare blend of business and art to his performance whether it be theatrical, musical or in business.

Jim has been playing the trombone since he was eight... and boy are his lips tired! He also enjoys singing and playing guitar. He has performed many styles of music, both vocal and instrumental from symphonic to rock and everything in between. However, his favorite is the Big Band Swing. "It just doesn't get any better than the classics of Glenn Miller or Benny Goodman.".

Jim considers it a privilege to be playing music with such a great group of musicians from all over the Kansas City Area. Each member of the Overtones brings a unique blend of talent and experience to the band and together, they produce a revival of the wonderful sounds of the Big Band Era.
